The Business of Blogging Panel

Hands down the most common question I get asked from ya’ll is how to start a blog. Although I have learned a ton in the past year and a half of blogging, I by no means feel like I am an expert because well, I am still really new too! The truth is that there is no cookie cutter how to guide in the business of blogging and to be honest, so much of it is just trial and error that differs from each persons experience. I wish I could take every single person out for coffee that has sent me a dm, email, and comment  asking for advice on blogging. I remember how it felt to feel completely overwhelmed by the unknown of starting a blog and although figuring it out for myself was empowering, I wish I had a little more guidance and encouragement in the beginning.

36 degrees North is a basecamp for Tulsa entrepreneurs. They exist to make it ridiculously easy for new and experienced entrepreneurs to find the right people, best practices, capital resources and workspace so that they can move forward in their startup journeys. They invited myself and 3 other bloggers to answer a few questions in a panel style workshop titled The Business of Blogging and below is the video, I hope this is helpful!

*excuse me embarrassing myself multiple times throughout this video*

Towards the end of the panel we were asked our favorite post we’ve done and mine would have to be my very first post.  A lot of times I forget how scared I was to start my blog. I will never forget that feeling the very first time I pressed “publish”.  If that is where you are at, read this post and take a leap of faith.

  1. Wonderful blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything.

Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for
a paid option? There are so many options out there
that I’m totally confused .. Any ideas? Thank you!
